This film is based upon the book with the same name, by Håkan Nesser,one of Swedens most appreciated "crime-authors". The movie is a part ofa series of six movies shot in eight months, all based on Nesser-books,but you don't have to have read or seen any of them before to enjoythis one.I read the book a couple of years ago and really liked it, so I waslooking forward to this one. It has potential on the paper, a goodstory and good actors, Sven Wollter as Van Veeteren and Peter Anderssonare always worth seeing.Carambole is the story of a doctor, in love and happy, who one rainynight accidentally hits a young boy with his car and drives away whenhe sees the boy is dead. Some days later he receives a letter tellinghim that someone knows what he did, and want money for his silence. Andafter that it just gets messier for the good doctor.As kind of a side story, we get to follow the retired officer VanVeeteren and his struggle to solve the murder of his son and get toknow his pregnant daughter-in-law.Carambole is a dark story. It focuses more on the feelings of thecharacters than the action and mysteries, and that is what makes itgood. I really cared for the people, and from that you really careabout the story and the ending (which I didn't care much for, but Iwon't say anything about it). Sven Wollter and Kajsa Reingardt both doa brilliant job. It is a movie well worth watching!!!
